Shadowlight
Pierre Mertens

Shadowlight is a vast and thoughtful reverie on the life of the little-known German Expressionist poet Gottfried Benn who was briefly seduced by Nazism. In this fictional re-creation, Pierre Mertens explores the conscience of a German who wants to defend his error, and yet who has not even had to lodge a plea for pardon.
